So, I think I've neglected this long enough now. Where to start? Honestly, not that much has happened recently. Lafe and I are still happily married. We actually celebrated our 18 month anniversary the other day. (We don't really keep track of the in between anniversaries. Lafe just happened to mention it as we were going to bed that night.) We're both doing well and are in good health. He's still working with his dad and I'm still tellering away at the bank.
One thing that's new. I'm going to go back to school in the spring. It was originally going to be this fall but things fell through and we decided it was best if I changed schools. So, I am waiting on the University of Southern Indiana (in Evansville, IN) to receive all my paperwork. I plan on applying to their Radiologic and Imaging Sciences Program and hopefully, graduate in 2-3 years with a Bachelor's Degree in said program. I'll be a radiographer, which is different than a radiologist. I don't have to go to school as long and I won't be diagnosing people. Wikipedia it. I'm really excited about it. I wish I could have started this semester but the school I was planning on attending was having issues and we realized we not only wanted me to go elsewhere but that the original school had dragged (drug?) their feet for so long that we were having to get a lot done in a short amount of time. This way, we didn't waste any time or money at the first school and Lafe and I now have more time to save and prepare for me being in school.
Another thing that's happened lately is that my best friend from high school has gotten himself engaged! Shane and I used to be incredibly similar. The two of us, plus my college roommate, had our own language at one point that stemmed from a horrible trip to Nashville. We went there because the Razorbacks had made it to the Music City Bowl. Things that occurred on this trip include, but are not limited to, getting lost in Little Rock, me getting felt up by a random drunk guy immediately upon our arrival to the pep rally the night before the game, discovering that the tickets I had waited in line for 2 hours in the rain for were located directly behind the tuba section. We then proceeded to sit by ourselves, in the endzone, in the rain, to watch the Razorbacks lose to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Oh, AND a fire alarm was pulled in our hotel at 3 AM. AWESOME.
One of my favorite memories of Shane was the summer after our senior year of high school. He was taking classes at TCC in the evenings and I was working at an oil company during the day. I would be heading back home when he was heading to class. We would meet at a Wendy's and order food and sit in his car and sing along to Britney Spears. Wow. We. Were. Dorks. Another favorite memory was skipping class (in college) on a Friday to drive to Chicago and I had to do what came to be called as the Snappy Elbow Dance to make sure he didn't fall asleep.
Anyway, so he's engaged and I am incredibly excited about it. (Weddings are more enjoyable now that I myself am married and I am not in the process of planning one. Also because it's the wedding of someone I love dearly and is not family so I don't have to help set up or clean up. I just have to behave, not cry too much, and look good and make sure Lafe looks good.) I haven't met the girl yet but she seems AMAZING. And I know their wedding will be FABULOUS. I am already looking for a dress.
I guess that's it, really. We got Don Miller's manuscript. (See Lafe's blog for that information.) We are going to see him when he comes to Evansville in October. (I will cry, hyperventilate, and pee my pants. Yes, that's an "and." I will do all three. Um...football season started. It's been...interesting. I'm not real sure how it's all going to play out. Lafe and I will hopefully be attending an Ole Miss game at Vanderbilt. We were going to go to a game at Oxford but you can't get single game tickets anymore. Boo. (Just to clarify, I am not an Ole Miss fan. I still have my reservations about how their coach will pan out. I would like to experience tailgating in The Grove. I just am glad when they do well because that puts Lafe in a good mood. Lafe upset at Ole Miss football is not a fun Lafe. But this is college football. It's SEC football. And I like SEC football. Very much so.) Vandy doesn't sell their seats very well so it won't be too difficult to get in. Hopefully. And two hours away definitely beats 6 hours. Or whatever Oxford is.
